Fat Bob VS. Used Road King

Fat Bob VS. Used Road King
I'm getting ready to trade in the Sporty soon, but I'm having difficulty deciding between getting a used Road King or a new Fat Bob.
I don't have time to do much touring, most of my rides are day trips or overnighters.
BUT.....I have a bad back and the Road King is probably better for my back.
I have ridden both and see the advantages of both bikes.
Price wise they are not much different.
I looked at a 05 RK Custom with 5000 miles and a few extras on it, they are asking 15K for it.
My heart says Fat Bob, but my head says the Road King will be a better long term ride.

well I come off a 1200r and was pretty well facing the same dilema betwen a fat bob and a used street glide. the test ride was what done it for me , the bob just lends itself better to the way I like to ride and really with the way I work I seriously doubt I will be making any cross country trips in the near future 300-500 miles is about it . If you been riding a 1200r then the bob will be a pleasent experience for your back . but you have to buy with your heart , not your wallet and to me 15,000 dollars for a 4 year old bike is alot of money .

You know you want to get that Dyna!!
Come on ALL the "cool" kids are doing it!
Seriously I have ridden both and I can't see a huge difference in the rides. I think the Fatbob handles better, but if you want to haul stuff, it's good to be the King. I'm not a fan of saddle bags on Dyna's, so I let my brother carry my stuff in his Road King when we ride together, or I use the roll bag when I go to work.
I say test ride both of them and see what you like best. Don't settle!

My buddy's RK Custom pounds the crap out of his bad back, worse when solo...I think they took the RK air shocks and just shortened them for the RK custom... he hardly runs any air; even two-up. We'll be switching them out before summer, especially since he tried my FXDXT with 12.5" 418's on back and with the front forks set up...waaay nicer ride on the FXDXT. Ride is largely a function of suspension, not weight.

Depends on the kind of rider you are .If your the type that likes to add stuff to thier motorcycle to make it more comfortable or practical then you will be better off starting out with the road King it really needs nothing. If you're like me and you like to strip stuff off of a bike to make it lighter or better looking you're better off starting with the Dyna less stuff to strip off.
