Very nice info
Wut if the after market exhaust comes with the bungs to use the o2 sencers and will you have to remap still tring to figure that out in here . Of course harly says you need A/C and a tunner

The O² sensor does not negate the need for a remap after an intake/exhaust component change.

Very true. TheO2 sensors do provide the ECM with info, but the MAP still has formulas that make the motor lean. Adding pipes and AC...leaner! Now....what set up you go with......there are actually quite a few options, and it all depends on how radical a set up you want. All in all, I love the 06 upgrades. GREAT line of bikes. (WideGlides are the best though!!!)

Why would you want to lean it out intentionally?

Yes, adding a phreer phlowing AC and or pipes, or removing the baffles will make phor a lean condition, but that is not overly desirable.

The aftermarket has been catching up with the 06 Dyna designs, and it's a good thing too. Alot of the changes that were made to the line will be carried over to the other lines in 07 or 08. Many of the pipe manufacturers have come up with designs including bungs phor the O2 sensors, and EFI phuelers have caught up and are taking the O2 sensors into account.

This new Dyna line is going to be the painful year phor aftermarket companies, but it will allow them to get a head start on their products phor the phuture.

I used to work phor a software company, and we always talked about the cutting edge vs. the bleeding edge. The bleeding edge was the more painful out phront development cycle that set the pace phor things to come. Many companies and innovations either lived or died on the bleeding edge. Those who were on the cutting edge phollowed the bleeding edge and most times profited phrom the bleeding edge.

The 06 Dynas are bleeding edge technology. They are out there in phront of everything else. Harley has put it all on the line. Should the 06 Dyna line prove to be successful, which I believe it will, then all the rest of the line up will benefit phrom it.

Back on topic.
Street Bob... Night Train...? What do you like? Want phlat black paint? Then you choose the Street Bob. Like the Softail phrame? Pick a Night Train. Don't have a strong opinion either way? Go ride both, and see which one your azz likes better.

sorry worded that last one wrong . if a guy with V/H pipes didnt do anything but put pipes on with the o2 bungs and no high flow a/c wouldnt the o2 sencor tell the ecm to give it more fuel because of the closed loop deal. the v/h pipes do have baffels too but yes they are alot freer flowing .if you do need the download i found wut i would think to be the best rev tech DFO $239 bucks

The closed loop system in the Dynas does not compensate that much.

I thought that roller cam bearings were better thanplain? Am I wrong?
ORIGINAL: wild wally

ORIGINAL: tda69

??? The motor is the same in both bikes, so I'm not sure what you'r referring to in terms of "more potential".
It's not the same motor, as mentioned already it's unbalanced, but also:

"Other fundamental upgrades to the Dyna powertrain are invisible to the naked eye, residing mostly in the cam case where redesigned cam chains are now tensioned by hydraulic units instead of springs, and the cam bearings have been changed from rollers to plain. The camshafts themselves have been redesigned as component assemblies consisting of separate lobes and sprockets pressed onto a
knurled shaft, and the camshaft is now secured to the output sprocket with a bolt screwed into the shaft end. Adjacent to the cam case is a higher-output oil pump to satisfy the needs of the new bearings and hydraulics. The pump’s capacity provides 10 percent more supply and 25 percent more scavenging than its predecessor, and what’s more, the oil no longer flows between the pump and the oil tank via external lines. Channels have been machined into the motor/tranny interface instead, and the result is a less vulnerable supply and a cleaner appearance to the motor. As noted, all of these important improvements to the Twin Cam are found exclusively on the Dyna models this year, but they beg the assumption that they’ll be migrating across the rest of the Harley stable for ’07.
Yet another hidden Dyna-exclusive upgrade is the use of electronic fuel injection as standard equipment on all models, and it’s not the same EFI offered elsewhere in the lineup. This EFI is a closed-loop system that uses an O2 sensor in the exhaust to give fuel mixture feedback to the control module from that side of the combustion cycle. It’s a smarter system than the open-loop approach, and it performs brilliantly. It’s a fast starter under any and all conditions, and it evidences no quirks of any kind either under acceleration or under engine braking. The potential customizing drawback of the closed loop comes when considering an aftermarket exhaust system to replace the stock setup, since you have to retain the O2 sensor circuit."

Roller bearings are not as good as needle bearings. I have the Torrington Style needle bearings in my cam chest. I did this upgrade when I went to Gear Driven cams. It is an upgrade that should really be done!

For the price of a Street Bob, you can buy a Superglide, and change the seat, bars and rear shocks, and still have money left over for upgrades! Granted, it's a different tank, and the speedo is on the risers, and the engine is silver instead of black.

I bought a Superglide, and have built it the way I wanted it. Just a thought.......[&:]
