You may have to drill it and use an e-z-out (screw extractor)

When you get it out, use a star lock washer under the screw/bolt when you re-install the seat. Forget about using loctite; although, if he used blue, I don't think it should have locked up on you.[:'(]

Unless he used red loc-tite and/or shmeared the entire bolt, you should be able to get it out. I loc-tite everything I bolt on but I usually only use blue. And much of what I have bolted on has been unbolted at one time or another and I got them out without a lot of extra force.

I'm sorry, I must admit I had a little snicker when I first read this...

Worst case, drill it out carefully and you may end up needing to buy a new seat nut and bolt. Probably the cheapest 2 OEM parts on your bike.

Agree with 2007fxdc. Use Lok-tite blue when in doubt (and always be in doubt). Things you think would never shake loose..shake loose. Good insurance.

LOL - they should give you a 32 oz. bottle of it with your free t-shirt, IMO. I keep a little bottle in my fork bag as a matter of fact, along with some tools just for tightening things back up if needed.

Wow, well be careful not to dent or get into your fender but if it is stripped drill it out, goto your HD dealer for a new recptical, its a couple of bucks, and just tighten it next time.

You can try heating it. I've used a soldering iron when a flame won't work. But if you have already fu-barbed it drill it out. Smiley

The red loc-tite ( which is what it sounds like he used ) requires "localized heating" and probably an impact driver. if the head is already stripped ...well, that's probably game. Go to Sears and get a "screw out" kit , I have one and have used it with much success, it runs offyour drill in reverse digging into the screw head and removing it . it will obviously ruin the screw , so have a new one ready. They also make a "bolt out" kit for stripped bolt heads , although if you strip a bolt head....maybe you shouldn't be playing with your dad's tools!!!

good luck

Remember, this is only a seat screw we're talking about.
There's a little brass blind nut under the fender. If you can get the bike jacked up enough, you should be able to get a pair of pliers or vice grips on the blind nut, and then pull the screw. Until you stabilize the blind nut, you're spinning your wheels doing anything else.
