Removing baffles V&H Big Radius - Good, bad, and ugly?
Hey all,
I have V&H big radius pipes on my Bob, and have been debating for the longest time on removing the baffles. Few questions..
1) If I so choose to remove them, am I going to be able to put them back in if desired?
2) Will the bike run like **** without them, or what?
3) I've heard doing this will cause problems with the motor in the long run, true or false?
4) Has anyone done this with there big radius pipes? If so, how do you like the sound comparing it with the baffles in?
I love nothing more then the sound of a loud @ss bike. I go to a lot of bike nights here in south Florida, and ride with random people on the roads, and they all always seem to have some CRAZY loud drag pipes, and although I love that sound, I hate the looks of those skinny little pipes. So I've been debating on doing this for a couple months now, and would like everyone else's opinion.
Thanks guys!
Cheers,
Adrian

There are many ways to get the sound you want without giving up performance. I would not just remove baffles you get the cheap Harley sound and it runs like $hit. Thats my take. Dyno tune, diffrent baffles ,engine mods will get you the sound and performance we all expect from our Harley's.

Try some Thunder City Monster baffles. I would try and leave some type of baffles in, especially on these newer fuel-injected bikes. If I had an older carb'd bike, I would think about drags, as it's easier to adjust the fuel/air mix. I just think removing them will cause too much of a lean condition which could wreak havoc on the motor in the long run.

I've got the Big Radius, I removed the baffles and it sounded like hammerd ****. I then started cutting them off an inch at a time, I got down to about 3 inches for the sound I liked but I lost a ton of low end torque. I had to replace the exhaust after the cage ran me off the road and I have left them alone, the torque is back! They are not all that hard to get to the mounting screw is under the heat shield so you have to loosen the shield and slide it out of the way.
My suggestion leave them alone....
