RE: Northern Tools jack doesn't work for me.
I use this lowcost sears pro.
it works fine for both my Fatboy and Roadglide jiffy stand down.
This jack will fit even with a flat.
As for the jify stand being in the way it is no were near a problem, you have a lot of room to playwith were jack sits under bike I know on mine the jiffy is not center.
I wheelit all over the garage on the jack

There are a couple of differences in the Dyna group and the Softtail line (Fatboy) andTouring line (Roadglide).
The Dyna jiffy stand pivots near the middle of the frame while the Softtail and Tourning jiffy pivots nearer to the front of the frame.
While the Softtail and Touring models frames are the lowest part of the bike, the Dyna frame is not the first thing contacted when attempting a lift. The lower part of the tank that holds the engine oil is slightly lower than the frame on Dynas and adapters have to be used to lift with the frame rails. (Some may lift without the adapters but I don't think the entire weight of the motorcycle was intended to be rested on two areas of this oil reservoir.)
The Softtail and Touring models have an oil tank that eliminates this reservoir and allows one to lift with the frame rails.

I tried a friend's yellow Sears jack a while back and didn't have the adapters.
It hit the stand going under the bike.
I had to put the stand up while sitting on the bike and start lifting while on the bike.
I didn't like the fact that it was not level and also lifting on the transmission case.
I let it down and didn't use the lift.
The red jack I have might not go down as far as the sears yellow jack.
Maybe the sears jack will have enough clearance to clear the adapters on the right side
when I lean the bike over to put the jiffy stand up to slide the jack all the way under the bike.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to build three platforms.
One for each wheel and one for the jiffy stand to raise the bike off the floor
before I push the jack under, get on the bike,
retract the jiffy stand and push the jack all the way under the bike before starting to lift.

I like the yellow one, and it works good - great.
Plenty of folks use the red sears,
and most say it works great for them.
I may upgrade to the JandS,
it is, many say, the top of the line.
have a look here.

I would like the Sears yellow. I used a buddy's once without the adapters and got the bike up where I wanted it with a piece of wood to level the bike. I didn't really like not using the adapters and jacking on the bottom of the engine so I didn't leave it up very long.
It's just that I got this one free for Christmas and, if you knew me, you would know that I hate to needlessly spend. I believe I can come up with a solution to make this one work.
Yeah, that J&S is the cat's meow but, man, what a price. I might spring for one someday but, don't see that coming too soon. Maybe I can sell this one to an 4-wheeler rider and downsize the cost of a Sears yellow.
By the way. Great write-up on procedure and very good pictures. Thanks.

Mud -
Again with another outstanding write up. I wasnt sure if the stand would clear that left rear block, but I'll try it out. When I tried it yesterday, I was sitting on the bike and my friend said it would hit, I didnt get a good look at it. Your description is what I had thought. I have some shocks from a SB on the way so I'll get to try it out. Thanks again!!
