$260+tax to put on new rear tire-- fair?
Talking with dealer about new rear tire. To get the same stock tire put on my 07 bob they are saying $260+tax, thats sound fair to me.Should I get an appointment with themor shop around? Not in serious need of tire yet so I have some time but I would bet by midMay orJune for sure I'll need new rubber out back.

Only if the rest of the dealership prices are fair...
I'd go to a decent indy shop and have it done. Probably save you a wad of cash.
In Pasadena here locally we have a place called Discount Motorcycle Tire (inside an independent shop) and I can get a 140 Metz for my 2k WG installed for about $160 or $175.

American Motorcycle Tire on the web.
Dunlop K591 160/70B - 17 $125.84
Shipping $11.54
Total $137.38
Bring tire to Cajun HD to R&R rear wheel and mount tire. $65.00
Total $202.38
I didn't look up tube and rim strip. Probably another $15.00
Local Indy wanted $75.00 if to mount if I took wheel off bike and brought it in.

I used to always pull my tire and go to an indy, I just aint got the time or inclination to do that any more. A lot 'o stuff I used to do to save a few bucks plus I was pretty free on time to do my own work. Times change, I just had a new RT put on Bob, while they were at it they did the brakes on back, wore to ****. Tire plus install was gonna be 250 and tax, it came ot to 335. I had it done in two hrs while I pestered service, parts, apearal and the prety girls.
260 is fair at HD, you can possibly save money having it done elsewhere, but I like my dealer and the service and parts and techs seem to really know there ****, so for maint I take to the dealer, most times. I do my own oil n such, prefer non HD fluids. I get a few parts there as well, but most of parts bussiness goes to my fav indy.

God, 260 for 1 stinkin motorcycle tire complete!?
Crikey, were talkin a motorcycle not a semi!
HD dealers must be in cahoots with the oil industry, ya know, bending over and taking it........

$260 is about right for HD. I will probably have the local dealer do all my tire changes. They know what they are doing, they test drive the bike, thetend to notice other things I may need to pay attention to, and I can hang out for an hour or so and look at bikes, and drink coffee.
I bad experience with an Indy was enough.
