It has amazed me to see the range of mileage guys are getting from tires. Some will say they can only get 4-6k and some will say 10-12k from the very same tire. I'ts hard to imagine that different riding styles could account for the variance. For me, got 10k out of the stock Dunlop rear and expect to get another 5k or so from the front stock Dunlop.
I did switch to the SE 180 this winter and after only a few hundred miles (come on warmer weather!!) I have fallen in love with the tire, not only in looks but the ride as well.
For the install went with the dealer as I was a bit leary as I've heard on this forum that the rear can be a bear to get off the bike. I'm sure the more mecanically inclined here will say it's a piece of cake. The only caution on the SE 180 is that some are saying you won't get as many miles out of it as the stock Dunlop of Metz. We'll see.......enjoy the ride.

A bit over 5K for the rear the a bit over 6K for the front. I highly recommend switching to Metzler for the fronts at least, made a big difference on my FXDWG...
im running a metz front currently has21000 and no sighns of cupping.every front dunlop i have run is cupped bad by 10000 miles.rears i get 6500 max out of generally 5500 there trashed.if only theyd make a harder tire for the 160 series then maybe get 8 to 10 out of it

I get around 11Kout ofthe back tire and 9Kout ofthe front tire. The front tire is a 21" and wears down fast!Air pressure makes a big difference on how long they last also.

I had a sporty that got 10k out of the rear and about 15-20k out of the front (without burnouts)
I think the key is thatif it's too hard compound it will last longer but skid easier so I always run HD factory tires.
I used to drag race and I can tell you any tire with great traction wears out quickly.

I was able to log about 11,000 on my rear stock Dunlop tire before it "should" be changed, but rode on it until 13,000 just fine. I now am running a 170/50/17 Metzler 880rear tire and I have to be honest, this tire has definitely boosted my confindence in the corners. I have forward controls on my FXD and numerous occasions has rubbed the heel of my boots in the corners with no signs of worry from the rear end. I amg.a huge Dunlop person, but I decided to crosss the brand lines and try something different and I havent looked back. As far as the mileage, we will find out this riding season how long it lasts. I do a lot of city/hwy driving, but also a bit of touring too

I was able to get around 12,000 miles out of the rear tire on the Bagger I had before I got my new Fat Bob. I hope it lasts as long as the other one did. Front tires go on for ever............seems like it anyway!

Bought my 03 WG with just under 9000mi and still some tread left on the tires, but I changed them out anyway. I believe they are the original tires because I don't think you could wear out two sets in 9000mi. I change my own tires and have some DYNABEADS to try for balancing. I hear good things about em so I'm looking forward to tryn' them out.

Your 03 tire would tend to get a lot better wear than the 06/ later models. Different compounds in the rubber.
