I live about an hour from Lake George. Americade is alright, it's no Mertle Beach. You Also Have Am Jam in Cobelskill NY, thats not too bad. Personally I'd go to Harley Rendevous in Meriahville NY. I'll be doing Laconia and Harley Rendevous this year.

Americade is tame and small compared to MB. Cops have been cracking down on loud pipes more and more. Not many vendors either. Fantastic riding through the mountains. Make sure you ride up to Lake Placid.

There is good riding in the area. We got hit with a NASTY rainstorm one day last year. I would just avoid the middle of town during the day as it is packed, SLOW and hot. I am gonna hit Americade on the way to Laconia this year.

As far as back roads up or back from Lake George I thought route 9 (primarily) was a nice leisurly ride and some nice country side too.

Aaaaaahhhh home sweet home. I used to live on Lake Bonaparte. Family in Phoenix NY and Rochester area. There are some nice rides up near Old forge alon Moose river as well. Are the cops always rough on pipes in NY now, or just during the events? Would slip ons be woo loud? Some places around here in SoCal are real a$$holes about pipes.

Amaericade started out ase a goldwing love fest years back - Lotsa goldwingers But tons of Harleys. Lame - depends on yer definition - and where ya hang. Venders are spred out all over, one area of pay to enter venders but the pop up from glens falls and don't end till Warrensburgh (30 miles). Great place to stop and an awsome ride to get to is SPORTIES - place has been open for a couple years but the owner operator is the best - Definatly Harley orented - worth the trip.

If yer lookin for ******* an beer, wait a week an go to Laconia in NH.

How do I know all this - Life long resident in the currently frozzen Glens Falls, NY

I have not been hassled about my pipes (VH Big Shots),and I think they are beautiful. I live in a fairly congested area in NY/NJ, so riding around Lk George is real nice ...except gettin' caught behind some of the geezer glides. Eeeeeessshhhhh!! Last year we decided o pass them, and it threw them off. Sorry, in a 45 MPH area I cannot stand goin' 30 behind a bunch of metrics and condos-on-wheels. But the rides to the mountains in the area are nice.

(It feels good to get that off my chest...thanks for listening)

As far as the pipes thing durring americade - the ONLY situation there is when registered riders go into "Americade Headquarters" - from what I understand from folks who've told me, the guy who started Americade once was a Harley dude but somethin happened an now he's got a hard one for Harley's.

He's one guy - and Americade is so much more - definatly not a ******* an beer show - beer if ya want but Definatly worth the trip. Lot's a buddies of mine are LEO'S and they don't harrass much cause then folks would go away. About the only thing getting harrassed was people doin excessive Burnouts in the Village of Lake George and I heard some had a hard one for riders wearin sunglasses at night of all things.

Heck I ride around in a novelty lid and haven't had any trouble yet - knock on wood
