Looking at the Venom 180 for my new 18x5.5 rear wheel. Any favorites out there? Thinking 180/55/18 to maintain the stock diameter as close as possible. If there's room, I'll go to the 200 when the 180 wears out.

Any insight appreciated.

 

hey scott, just put the avon storm 170 on the rear of mine. put 150 miles on it before i ripped the front end off for my wdg project. i do say, they hug the curves better and are more of a sticker tire around the turns then the dunlops. i have used dunlops my whole time and they just dont hold up, so i decided to change brand this time, night and day so far. iam about to put the 21in. avon venom on the front to finish it off. i will let you know monday how they both feel together. i heard they last alot longer then the dunlops also. i bought both my new off ebay alot cheaper then the avon website or indy dealer. jackyl

Please do send pic(s). I want to see the 170 and try to compare it to the D180 I have now. As soon as I can find a 21x3.5 front wheel that I a) like, and b) can afford, I'll install a 120 up front.

I have my rear wheel, a polished rotor, and a chrome pulley cover for the stock pulley. I'm looking for a cheap stock 70t pulley so I can install the chrome cover and build a complete wheel to mount. Bought a new-in-box HD chrome pulley cover on ebay for $20 shipped. The new wheel is a solid disk so the stock pulley design will be fine.

 

I had Avon Venom’s on my last ride.
They do HUG the road for sure, very noticeable.
Never had the change to ware them out before I sold the bike.

 

Did you need to mod anything to get the 18 to work back there? I wanted to go with some avon wwalls and of course no-one makes a 17. I may be wrong, but I have been told that the avons are def. grippier but for this same reason they wont last as long as other tires?
