I go every year. Only 350 miles from here. I take all weather riding gear,i.e. jacket, rain gear, tent, etc. With the hot days while in town my Camelbak hydration pouch has been invaluable. Sure beat trying to balance a gallon water jug on my gas tank while riding. As for clothing? Take your old raggedy ones and throw them out at the end of the day to make room in your bags. Don't take any shirts cuz you will buy lots of them there. Most places will take your plastic but a pocketful of cash will come in handy for eating, tips, etc.

I don't know about the girlfriend Boom. The chinese symbol for trouble is two women under one roof. You might want to rethink that one.

Don't forget your National Parks Passport. If you don't have one, purchase one the first park you go to and get it stamped everywhere you go. Great addition to the Tour Pack. Keeps a log of your two wheel travels.

Absolutely spot on.
That is what it appears to be more about now than anything else.

One thing im glad to hear your NOT taking is a Trailer.

I cant believe all the motorhomes and trailers that show up to a motorcycle rally......

I would rather have a campground full of every kind of motorcycle that got ridden instead of a campground full of RV's and trailered harleys.

I had a blast when I went, but the cell phone and credit cards are a must. Rain comes out of no where, and not many places to hide from it. Sun screen, a good pair of sunglasses, ( I use the type that's padded), lots of wind, and blowing sand. Use one pair of jeans to ride in and change into clean clothes after your shower, a helmet of course, anything you buy can and should be mailed home. And last but not least, a sense of humor, because many will tax your patience.
