getting a used low rider...
for a while I was considering getting a sporster 1200c. then I realized, why not get a used Dyna low rider for a little bit more.
I dont know much about the different changes made to the low rider throughout the years. what is the difference between the 2004 05 06 07 and 08 low rider? any models better then others?
I hear 7000 miles is the most u should buy the bike with, what other things should I look out for?
Thanks

RE: getting a used low rider...
I'm not a LR expert and not a dyna model evolutionary expert either for that matter. But, isn't there a year in there where they stopped raking the lowriders as much? And, weren't there some significant frame/fork changes made to all of the dynas between 05 and 06 and up?

RE: getting a used low rider...
If I was looking for a "new" bike I'd get a used '02, or maybe an '01, carbed Lowrider or Wideglide with 20k or less miles. 20k miles is nothing on a bike & you should be able to find one for $11k or less. Then I'd use the money I saved by not buying a newer bike & install gear drive cams & a 95" build on the motor.
What you will have is a bike that will blow away a stock 96" & even H-D built 103" bikes. You won't need a laptop or pay someone to re-calibrate your EFI everytime you make a change.
There are other websites that explain which years were better than other for Dynas & why. I know we all think our bike's year is the best, but there are mechanical & design differences. It all depends on what you plan to do or not do with your bike, that is an important consideration.

too be honest im riding nothin but city streets, lots of lights and cars and crap. and im a college student. Thats y I was originally going with the sportster but the 96 cam is calling me. I want your guys opinion on something.
Im in college
im in the city, cars, lights.
I dont have alot of money.
would you go for the sporster or the lowrider?
I love both bikes but can you blame me for wanting to shoot for the low rider? I want the 96 so guess im goin with 07 or up.
