Default HD leather saddlebags or Boss

Wanting detachable saddle bags for my (hopefully soon to be owned; need to find some more money) 08 Fat Bob; dealer came up with HD leather saddlebags (79300-06B) and BareBacks (currently no detachable bag and hardware for Fat Bob). Different option would be Boss Bags for Dyna. Boss bags appear to have just slightly more capacity (1,225 cubic inches vs. 1,192 for HD bags). Boss opening is 6" by 12 3/4", but I can not find opening size for HD bags (bigger would be better). Neither option is cheap, but in the end HD option may be a little cheaper. All that said, I want good looks, fit, and quality. May keep them on more than just for trips but not every day. Just wanted to know which way some of you would go.

I have the Boss bags.
I like them, They come off easy when I want them off.
To install you will need to jack up ride to remove bottom
shock bolt to install bottom roller for bags.
Plus they are hard side, keep there shape even when empty.
easy to clean and mantain.
I take mine off for local trips and after I get to areas I travel to,
I leave them in motel rooms for day trips of sight seeing.
Hope this info helps you.

Just make sure you measure the distancefrom the center fenderstrut to the top of the exhaust for bag clearance if you changed the exhaust

What the difference in price between H-D detachable bags & Boss' detachablebags including the necessary hardware needed?

I currently have a detachable sissy bar, so I know I'd have to buy their turn signal relocation kit that looks like the signals come off each side of the license plate...that's only only part I don't like about this detachable bag set-up & probabaly the only reason I haven't done this yet!

I priced them both and the Boss Bags are a little cheaper. Also, that roller that mounts to the shock is supposed to be very functional in keeping th bags steady and not rubbing anything. I'm not sure if the H-D bags have this feature.

I got the Boss Bags about 3 years ago, HD didn't have a detachable bags back thenunless you bought Ghostbracket, etc. which of course added an extra $100 or so to the cost of the bags. Boss Bags came with everything and was a cleaner look.

They have held up well, are easy to put on and off the bike and are lockable. Been in some heavy rains and it remained dry inside.

My $0.02.

I had Boss Bags on my last bike and they worked out great.
