Default Is a 3000 mile fluids change worth it?

I have posed this question before but still cannot make a decision and need your guys help. My bike just hit the 3000 mile mark and am considering a fluids only change. Do you think it is necessary?

And before you tell me this... NO I do not wanna do it myself.

What do you think about a fluid change between the 1000 and 5000 mile service? I ride my bike ALL YEAR ROUND (sorry Northerners) and do about 600 miles a month mostly on weekends. Since it has been winter here... the 3000 miles have not been during the Florida sweltering heat we get in the summer. I did get it dyno tuned last weekend and it is running flawlessly and am not sure I wanna f**k with the bike AT ALL.

Thanks for the input fellas and gals.

Tony

unless your bike is different it is just oil and primary... it is super easy to do, and will save you big $$$ plus then you can use a quality oil like Amsoil and you bike will run 10xs smoother... i know you said you did nto want to touch it yourself but i just wanted to let you know it is more than saving a $ it is about getting the best fluids into your bike... hell if you lived close to me i woudl help you!

2 things on a bike which I will never overlook.

1. Oil changes

2. Good rubber

Cheap insurance, for what you get in return.

It depends on your riding environment.

The areas that qualify as severe riding conditions include high temperatures, high dust environment or high mileage. I qualify for all three, being in Arizonawith about 2000 miles per month so far.

I have the service contract for 1K, 5k, 10k, 15K and 20K service with the dealer but I replace the engine oil and filter half way between those services.

I use Mobil 1 V-Twin 20-50 and my dealer will put it inif I supply it for the contracted services.

As another poster mentioned, it's cheap insurance.

I just changed my oil at 3800 miles for no other reason than I wanted fresh oil in the bike. All it cost me was the cost of an oil filter, and 3 quarts of HD 20w-50 ($25 or something like that I think).

I plan to do the engine oil every 3k at most. I'm not using synthetic, just regular HD stuff. The rest of the maintenance I'll follow the HD service interval, but I feel good knowing I'm changing my oil a little more often considering so much old oil remains behind with an oil change (unless you purge the sump).

What is it you think you'll screw up on the bike that has to do with your Dyno?

i use mobil 1 and it gets changed every 2 to 3 thou.
oil gets more abused in an air cooled engine and for 30 bucks, its cheap insurance
even in my car, the synthetic gets dumpped at 3k

If you think you might want to change it, do it.
You cant kill a motor with fresh oil.
