i haven't rode on an o5 but the 06 six six speed and fi are nice. never a problem to start and rides nice. i'll probly get some people mad at this but [:-] there is quite a bit of vibration to get used to so if you think that might bother you back you might want to consider a softail, i know its more money but my friend has a heritage softail and its got very little vibation at all with the balanced motor. dyna defintatly has more a hotrod and softail has more cadilac feel. though you will lose the o2 and 6th gear

Since you live in Canada, there will only be one day in mid-August when you won't have to fiddle with the choke on a carbureted '05. The EFI on the '06 is ready to roll from startup. The '06 transmission shifts much better, the forks are waaaay big, the eyebrow is gone, the internal engine modifications to cam bearings and oil pump are all good in the interest of longetivity, no external oil lines, the new frame is stiffer, the rear fender and tire are wider, the wheels are better looking in my opinion, the front disc is a floating design, the battery terminals are on the outside where humans can reach them, and eventual resale prices should make up some/all of the added price, plus the inevitable benefit of being a year-newer model. Buy the '06 even if you have to wait on one. I bought the base Superglide, deal of the century, because I knew I was going to replace the stock seat, pegs/controls and bars anyway, so why have extra expensive parts left over?

RE: 2005 vs 2006 dyna -Opinions please?
I have owned three Harleys and two have been the Dyna models. I recently bought the 06 DWGI and found it to be different in many ways that depart from my opinion of a Harley Davidson. The engine note sounds more like foreign bikes I owned or ridden. The EFI has lean spots in the low to mid rpm ranges (Stage 1, SEII and HD-Remap). The EFI requires a several hundred-dollar device to correct or minimize the mixture problems. The larger forks feel very heavy in slow turns and want to flop over, this could be caused by the additional rake of the DWG. I am having troubles with the front end and the local HD dealership requested that I bring my bike over for a factory tech to review in two weeks. This is happening because the dealer would not address the problem and a letter was written to the MOCO and the National Transportation Safety Administration was copied.
There are many changes to the Dyna Model in 2006, only time will tell if they are improvements, transmission, head re-design, oil pump, cam timing chains, chain tensioners, clutch and EFI to name a few. I broke my own rule of never buying a new model in the first year of production. I was easily impressed with all the changes. For me the verdict is still out on the 06 Dyna Models.
My other Dyna was excellent. It was a 2001 Super Glide (Stage 1, Vance and Hines Big Shots) and it felt and rode like a true Harley Davidson. Idle ruff, made lots of mechanical noise and was carbureted which required simple jet replacement for a couple bucks to correct fuel/air mixture. It never gave me an ounce of trouble, whether riding in the Rocky Mountains, flat lands or in town.
My 2 cents!
