When I put my apes on, i had to switch over to poly. The rubber was way to unstable, even when braking at 5mph. It's nice to have that solid feel.

I heard that the poly made setting the bars straight easier.

Just installed Polyurethane bushings today. Great for tall handlebars as it almost completely eliminates any play in the handlebars. I actually installed them in hopes of eliminating a crooked riser problem. Risers still pull about .08" to the right. A little better than before.

I hated the mushy feel with the stock Street Bob mini apes and the stock rubber bushings. Put on poly bushings with the 14" apes and it feels better than Oprah in skin tight spandex... then again what doesn't feel better than that?

I installed mine today. I recommend this mod. The bars feel much more solid, and there is no noticeable increase in vibration. In fact, the mirrors seem to shake less.

Some cautions - make sure you cover the forks and the headlight with bubblewrap or something along those lines to protect the surfaces from getting dinged by your tools. Cover the tank/instrument cluster with a bunch of towels to rest the handle bar assy on. And, be careful on the RH riser bolt. There is a ground wire and it is very easy to break the terminal off the end of the wire (guess what I have on order from H-D?).

Ditto \ with the 5" risers on my WG drove me crazy! Seemed like my bars were never going the same direction as wheel.

And another thing - I noticed that after the bolts were torqued that the new bushings changed the angle of the handle bars. I had to re-adjust the mirrors as they were pointing upwards.

Default Poly Bushings

I just switched to poly bushings, bars a lot more solid but vibration has increased significantly. At low rpm (under 2500) I thought the mirrors were going to fly off. Above that I no longer get a shake in the bars only a buzz. I've decided to try the"vibranators" to see if they can reduce the buzz and clear up the mirrors.

I swapped out my front end this spring and put in poly bushings in the process. Same general observation, more solid and slightly more vibration. I'll give it some time, if it's really a problem I might see if I can do something about it.
