There are some sweet *** lookin Dynas on this forum....... but why not pick a softail and give it just as much love (i.e. all chrome/ black etc) ?? I'm not trying to start a war but a softail, RK... etc looks so much more "custom"..... don't burn me at the stake dynas look awesome, but b/c of the swing arm/ shocks it cuts that clasic rigid line. Wha makes the Dyna so attractive? I'm a Dyna lover (and soon to be purchaser) but I really like that softail/ rigid look...

I have been riding for 20 years and the Dyna is what a motorcycle is all about to me. I have rode a Heritage Softail on vacation last year before I purchased my bike and it just didn't do it for me. I was in the Grand Tetons and touring two up was great but alone I could not be aggresive on it. I also came from a 1200R background and that was just to much of a change.

Not sure about the OP's motivation here but here goes my 2 cents anyway for why I chose my Bobstah:
Ride/handling - there's really no comparison
Vibration
Price/performance ratio
Just as customizable IMHO, great canvas to make the bike my own.
I am a adamant believer in the 'less is more' and 'form follows function' schools of styling.
If I wanted a rigid look, then I'd get a rigid, not a wannabe, though softies can look awesome. But if ya got shocks, show 'em!
If I wanted a hefty touring bike, then I'd get a bagger like the RKC, but just not my cup of tea and never will be! If you think they look good and are 'customizable', well, we have serious differences of that concept unless taking off parts you just paid big bucks for is your idea of customizing! Not a long distance rider, so first thing I'd do with a bagger (other than sell it - LOL), is to take off the bags, windshield, extra lights, engine guards, etc. So what's the point of that?
