Default Help removing "?" white powder stuff from fins on jugs and bolts?

Im not sure what to use as far as search criteria but ive got white chalky "crap" sticking to the fins and some of the bolts. Its in the shed for the New England winter but overall not a damp area. Didnt get too much into coating/winterizing bike because ive been working on it all winter. Any remedies, aside from mechanical (scotchbrite etc) to clean this stuff off? Not afraid of elbow grease just not sure what it is. Fins still have a generally shiny appearance, this stuff isnt everywhere but is on the fins in some spots.

That would be oxidation. Your shed might not be the best storage place for your bike as it is probably too damp.Try some S100 cycle cleaner and a brush but NEVER use a scotchbrite pad on your bike.

No offense but, do you guys think im insane? Ive replaced parts because of hairline scratches......nevermind create them on my own. I would never use ScotchBrite or anything of the sort, the very thought of using them is more out of frustration than anything else. Unfortunately the bike isnt in the shed by choice....ive basically rebuilt it over the course of the winter in a 4x8 area because I have nothing else. Does S100 remove oxidation or is it something to try?

I clean my heads and jugs by coating them with WD40 and letting it sit for a while, then rinse it off with water.

White powdery subtance?

I know a few people that would be willing to come over and remove it for you.

S100 or any other of the engine brighteners will work.

just a guess - it would keep it from being grounded and not allow the electrolysis. can't put a zinc tab on a bike

I had an old Kawasaki KZ900 that I restored that the engine had oxidized badly on......I shot some WD-40 on it as mentioned before, let it sit over night.....sprayed it again the next morning let it sit for about an hour and rinsed if off with water. I never had a problem with it again.
