You can do your own work without affecting the warrantee if that's what you ask here.

Just a FYI...

I just had my 1000 mile service completed at the same time that I got my recall taken care of because I figured it would be pretty convenient. The recall was of course free but the 1000 mile service cost me $185. [:@] $118 of that was for labor. Frankly I could not believe it cost that much. I will never again have my bike serviced at the dealer unless it's something that I don't feel I can take care of.

Dealers encourage the 1,000 be done at the shop in case there are issues with the new bike. Plus, with some dealers there is the $$$ issue.

I can't say that about my dealer. They did the 1,000 mile so check out the bike, and it was free, including parts. The only thing I paid for was the EFI download to go with the pipes and aircleaner that I had added.

Different dealers, different motives. After my first service, I do most all of my own stuff, and the head mechanic is very good about helping with free advise if I get stumped.

Regards,

Bill

Quite often the dealers just give the bike a quick once over and not even doing what they are supposed to do on the service. They usually end up shorting the fluids more often than not. It's usually the low man on the totem pole that does the job and not the top mechanic . I've seen many people come up short on the services from the dealer. and you're probably much better off getting the manual and doing it yourself. The free services by the dealer are usually worth what you pay for them IMO

Here's a link that will give you a list of what to check when you enter your VIN and miles in the boxes...

My dealer.. who I trust totally did my 1000 mile for free..

and gave me half price on another at 2500 ... when they did my recall work.

But I intend to do the rest..

I need to get to know this machine a little more intimately...
