What are you going to put it on?

You are going to have to do some research, but can probably get most the info from the guys on the forum.

If you are looking to install it on a EFI Dyna, find out if the speedo gets its signal from a Hall Effect type Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). On the newer Dynas, the VSS mounts in the transmission housing. An internal magnet counts the teeth on the tranny's fourth gear and sends the signal to the speedo. maybe you can compare the VSS part numbers for the Dyna and V-Rod.

Next you will need to know if the V-Rod has the J-1850 Data Bus. The Dyna uses this to send info from the ECM and other components to the speedo to display codes and other information.

I don't know if the low fuel light will have to be worked out or not. The indicators should work OK.

Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks jm for the reply it is a hall effect speed sensor & the speedo works ok,i have engine manage light, batt i wont know unless i have a batt problem, alarm works fine but security light key dosent work,i think my mate got a deal because the time clock isnt working which isnt a problem,my main question is has anyone taken apart the 12 pin packard micro switch as i will need to have a play with pin settings to get security light to work, once i get hold of wiring diagram from v-rod thanks all
