Aircraft paint stripper is what I used when I did mine along with the triple trees. I'll have pictures after supper. TTYL

First, you did a damn fine job on your lowers Flyer. Welcome to the fork polishers club!

There's a thread around here somewhere describing how to polish the lowers, meanwhile, here's the pics I have from when I did mine:

And then I decided they would look better black:

Here's the stuff on the bike:

Any auto store should have it over by the paints and such. It comes in a rattle can, you just spray it on, wait about 10-20 minutes and wipe off the paint peelings with a rag. WARNING: THIS IS SOME NASTY SCHIT! ! WEAR RUBBER GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES! !

True, but the shine in a well polished aluminum part is incredible.

Here's the link to Tommays' polishing thread I mentioned earlier:

Damm, I couldn't imagine doing them on the bike. Mine were removed and there was a fair amount of elbow grease.
Tommay did some nice work and that's where I got the idea.

JRK5892, Don't Beat me up too much on this, but was headed to ACE Hardware on a Sunday and as I pulled into the parking lot the employees were leaving. So much for the helpfull hardware man, woman, person..

Went to wallyworld as a last resort and picked up some spray Citri-Strip paint and varnish stripper. I let it sit about an hour then took a green scotchbright type pad and GENTLY removed the crud. A few areas It just wouldn't cut it, so used 800 grit.

+1 on the spray stripper. How fine did you go on the sanding? The highest grit I can get locally is 1800 wet or dry.

Glide, Went with 800 grit, then took the powerball with Mothers to it and that was all it took. I had an old carpet I laid down and heldthe sliderwith my foot and buffed em up. A little messy but didin't want to wussy foot around to much.
