Memphis Shades Del Rio (pics)
A few weeks back I posted a thread on the Windvest. I initially decided to pull the trigger on one, but later had second thoughts. The handlebar attachment just bothered me ...was something I couldnt sell myself on. So .... my second choice was one of the Memphis Shades Sportshield Series. I dug aroundto find all the pics and info I could ... (special thanks to "Piginablanket" for giving me some great insight into how theSportshieldsmount and adjust) ... and ordered a Del Rio last week.I mounted the shield this weekend and test rode as well.
In comparison to the H-D Quick Detach, Ifound the Del Rio to be superior in every aspect but one .... the Del Rio leavessome hardware on the bike when removed. The Del Rio has a smallerprofile, fits the bike really well, was easy to install, has rake adjust, allows the headlight to extend out with a visor trim ring, and buffets around 50%-60% LESS.Colors are an option as well and I went with Gradient Black. For $150-$200 less than a H-D or Windvest, I think the MemphisShades Sportshields are a steal.
Attached are a few pics ....
Later ....

I agree on the HD Quick Release Shield.
The hardware was to big and bulky for my liking
and the shield sat way to far out to provide much
protection for it’s size.

I now have the Rio Grande Sportshield.
Measures 21" W x 19" H above headlight

It cuts down on the wind just enough to make things
more comfortable and still have a little wind on me.
Looks better IMO also.

I was surprised to see this thread pop back up. Thanks for the nice words about my bike. I still stand by what I initially wrote .... this shield is far, far better than the QD Harley I had. I'd hate to know I had to go back to the original one.
Thanks again ...

Im in the market for some kind of shield. After several years of riding shieldless, I am sick of getting blown around. It starts getting uncomfortable after awhile. I only intend on using it on my longer rides on the highways...65 +. Around town, I will still go shieldless....
