Default dyna w/ sportster tank mod?

Can a fuel injected sportster peanut tank be made to work on a dyna without serious modding? "Serious modding" is a relative term, but I want to be able to go back to the dyna tank later. Thanks.

Well, I know that roland sands design (RSD) makes a FI peanut tank for softtails... but then again what can't you get for softails?
I'm sure that you would need to weld new brackets onto the tank to make it fit, but I'm not sure if the dyna and sportster share the same fuel pump and internal mounts. Anyone who has taken the guts out of a FI tank knows what I'm talking about.
Also, I would lose my fuel guage... but who needs it! Then again, I wont have a reserve either. I just think it would look slick and very different. I don't like the way the "remove fender struts and mount fender to swingarm" mod looks with the fat dyna tank.

Mud, how did you go about fabbing your own tank??? Where are you Mud?!!?

No.

I am currently narrowing a stock 06 SuperGlide tank by 2 1/2"
to get a narrow Sporty "style".

The Sporty tank tunnel is to narrow.

The fuel pump will not deliver an adequate "flow rate".

Capacity would probably be adequate.

To quote you -
"Serious modding" is a relative term.

Yeah, and in this case, it is a veryclose relative.
Like kissin cousins close.

dont mean to hijack, but man i am thinkin this very thing - and not opposed to serious mods to adapt the tank - dont wanna mod the frame
i love the look of the sporty tank - no clue how they get the fi parts in there, assuming a hatch kinda like the roland sand - right?

any one know about the FI part question that devils haircut had? Meaning can I throw the dyna fuel pump and guts into the sorty tank.
Thanks

What about removing the fi and going with a carb and use a carbed tank...

see if you can track down an XS 650 yamaha tank... or old school CB 750 or 350 tank... will take a bit of mod work and you would have to drop your pump in there but there is enough room... would look sick! one of my buddies just put a XS tank on his NT... looks AWESOME!!!

Wow, I forgot all about this old thread! Don't quote me on it, but I think RSD now makes an aux fuel pump "box" that you gotta hide somewhere. Just modify the sporty tank to fit the dyna backbone. A few months after this thread died, Last Saint posted a picture of a dyna with a sporty tank, so I know it can be done.

That is a possibility that would probably make the swap a little easier.
