I just put on my new custom rear fender. I removed all the blinkers andstock rear taillight. I have dreamweaver's side mount license plate Model A taillight. the Model A taillight grounds itself.I connected the green wire from the taillight (brake light) to the red wire of the rear stock wiringharness. And the black wire from the taillight (running light) connectedto the blue wire of the rear stock wiringharness. I took the ground wire (black wire obviously) from the stock wiring harnessand I ground it under the seat. Then i started the bike up and took for a ride then all of a sudden after about 4-5 mins of riding at night my headlight and the taillight went off. Checked, it was the light fuse that went out. I put a spare in. and it happened again in about 3-5 mins of riding. Scared the sh*t out of me! Then kept doing that. I wonder what did I do wrong. I called Dreamweaver, they didnt know why it kept doing that. I've been struggling with it for a while. Any help would be great. Thanks!
I'd go back and check the two hot wires going to the tail light for chaffing or nicks in the insulation, especially if you routed them through any tight spaces, etc. It sounds like you've got a short in one of those wires.
I found the problem, the running light under the taillight got loose. It hit the taillight housing, so it blew out my fuses. I got it repair and everything runs great, for now (hopefully). thanks for remind me to check the hot wires.
