Default Quiet Baffles = Ticket for loud pipes

In case you guys were wondering how loud they are... I got another ticket today in the town of Ocean Ridge (FL).

I was idling when I was pulled over.

My last ticket there was without them (QB).

Fight it.

Show the judge both tickets and, if possible, prove that you've been ticketed for the same offense at two different decibel readings.

Complain that the PD is enforcing the law inconsistently and that though you've tried, it's impossible to comply when the PD will ticket whomever, whenever regardless of the reality.

Good luck.

Yeah if the law is no louder than stock you are pretty much stuck with it.

That is just such crap.......like that LEO has nothing better to do. I have SEII's which are fairly loud and have had the LEO's only ever say..."hey nice bike"

I could see if you were running drag pipes and opened it up in a small town, but it sounds like you were just cruisin. Even in Law Enforcement you got guys (or gals) who are just alittle odd and I think you may have crossed paths with one of them. I know most would not have cared. There are alot of LEOs on this site that have aftermarket exhausts, including me. The law is the law, but I usually won't stop for 5 over and I definetly wouldn't nit pic over slightly louder than stock exhaust.
As far as fighting it, I probably wouldn't do that, but I would go to court and advise the Judge how important it is for you to follow the law and because of your last ticket you bought new baffles to quiet it down and you thought you were in compliance. Maybe the Judge rides and he might let you off with a lower fine....JMO.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I found out something very intresting.......the cycle cops in the city have control of their scoots 24/7......they are given an allowance of 50% of the cost to change their exhaust, if they want to change it, to one that makes some noise! Even the cops here know loud pipes save lives! Most of the cop bikes have been converted and sound pretty good. I just replaced my original mufflers with Cycle Shack's slash cut slip ons and I have a feeling they are going to cost me a few tickets outside the city.

Sorry to hear that Top. They just out to get us. At idle! I could see it if you were getting on it. I would avoid this place like the plague they are sending a message. Geez.

I'm runnig V&H staggered's w/o baffels and they are very loud. To the point where no one wants to ride on my right side. As for tickets, none.Several of the LEOs around here have bikes that are louder than mine. Not faster, just louder.
