Handlebar internal wiring and turn signals
Hello from Maine.
I found this place after doing searches for how to install new handlebars with internal wiring and chrome controls.
My bike isa 98 Dyna Wide Glide.
I' m almost done with the bars and controls..just have to hook up Load equalizer for Doss marker lights/t signalsandsome LED running lights combo to work. The reason I signed up was for some feedback on the turn signals hanging from the orig. position. I have Flanders 1" internally wired bars which I used, but, there's no dimple for the short external wires running outside to the t signal. The wires right now are just pinched tight. I'm not too sure that was the right thing to do..also worried about waterproofness...any ideas? Before I put it all all back together.

RE: Handlebar internal wiring and turn signals
just be sure that when you drilled the you really take your time to be sure you de bur everything... it was put to me this way... you should be able to pull a cotton ball though without any problem... i just did mine a few weeks ago, i put a few laters of shrink wrap on the wires when i fed them though... if they are still wrapped up alright you do not have to worry about water... you have to wrry arout grounding out more than anything. (if i am reading your ? right) welcome by the way from Chicago!

The later model WideGlides have a hole in the bottom half
of the switch housings, for the wires.
If you drilled the lowerhousings,
would that work for you??

Thanks...I think drilling a hole in the bars with a grommet sounds right.. I may finish the wiring and see if it works the way it is tho. I just am surprized i didn't read about doing it first in one of the umpteen million how-to HD books i have looked at already.
My next winter project is swapping my fork sliders with chrome ones.....

I just finished burying the wires in a pair of 1" Flanders, so I know they are tight. But, I was wondering if you took Mud's suggestion of drilling the switch housings, if you had room to run the signal wires internally also. I wrapped my wiring so they would be covered inside the bars. Barely enough room to get the wires to come through to oblong hole at the bottom center. I would not have had the room.
