From a guy who's bike has a 21", stick with what you have !! The 21" takes a little more effort to get it through the curves, an the 2" width doesn't like grass, gravel or any surface that moves but will grab onto any raised portion of the roadway, immediately and often !!!!!!!!!
Don't disagree with this, but that is why I changed to a 21" x 3.5" front wheel with a 120/70 tire. Much better handling and no shaking in the corners at 70-75mph...now it occurs at 90-95.

Is that a Harley wheel? part number? Did you have to get a wider fender? The bicycle wheel is the only thing I don't care for on my Deuce!!

Just a question about lacing the wheels for those who have done it themselves.Do you need a special spoke wrench? I'm going to relace my 21" front rim and in fact already have the replacement spokes but want to get the right spoke wrench before I tear everything apart. Thanks

I did not need a spoke wrench because I was having it trued at the dealer. If you are going to true up the wheel, you will probably need one.

so there is no modding to do to the front end for a 21?
all i have to do is get a 21 rim, spokes and use my hub?
the fender will fit and the spacing and all that will work fine?
thanks for the info

No, it is not a Harley wheel. Bought from HogPro. Yes I did - bought from J&P, but I don't remember the name of it in the catalog. I talked to one of their tech guys who suggested it.

Just thought I'd throw in my experience with my 21" rim.

I have the 2011 SB. Bought a custom 21" from Dayton. (I'm extremely lazy on my days off and didn't want to ruin my only means of transpo by building one off the stock hub). The rim I got was 21x2.5. Skinny. I definitely feel a crap ton more sketchy riding now. I feel every little microscopic groove in the highways, and when you're going 95 and hit a seam that wants to just, sorta, take you with it...well, that'll make your butt pucker. Every day gets a little better when riding, but I did have to change my whole riding style to accommodate. But, that's just me. Everyone will have a completely different riding experience.

Anyhow, the rim and tire fit pretty much exactly as the stock 19" did under the fender. No need for any fender mods. And, at the end of the day, most importantly; it looks good. Function be damned, if I'm going to die on my bike (I DO commute 150 miles per day in Southern California) well, I'm gonna look great going down!

I have a 21x3.25 with a 120/70. My bike Is MUCH more stable than with the 19" wheel.

Same here, more stable, tracks great, completely ignores rain grooves and cracks.
