Default Ape Install.

I'm doing the ape install and having trouble with the clutch cable,I even checked out the thread about installing. I am having trouble getting the clutch cable out of the tranny cover any ideas? Not sure how it suppose to come out without messing something up.

Yeah I saw that thread it's helped a lot. Are you saying the piece in side the hole has to unscrew in order to get the cable out?

I don't know how those guys were able to get the cable out without taking the tranny cover off,no way.

it screws out. takes a 9/16 or 5/8 wrench. you'll need the rubber o-ring off of the stock cable also. you should be able to see it after you unscrew the cable from the side cover.

The ferrules must break pretty easily. I broke one installing a cable. I have seen several other posts about them breaking as well.

I just take my cover off and put a wrench on the outer nut for the cable and just turn the cover round and round till it's out. Done it a couple of times already.

I just put new bars and controls on my '94 and didnt take the cover off at all.. In fact, I pulled(not easy) the cable out of the clutch lever housing by hand (really need another set of hands for help). It can be done w/o taking the cable off if you wanted to.
