Default Battery Cover Button Head Screw

I changed out my Battery Cover Trim today. I take the battery cover off and the button head screw comes out very easy oddlike butter. I change out the trim and put the cover back on. I go to screw the head screw back on won't go in it like its crossed threaded. I look at the cover make sure its all level and installed properly no go. I am pissed it looks to me that when service was done on the bike someone forced the screw. I checked the bolt and it threads properly. I now will be blamed for damage to the part. Since I was the last one to take it off. I have installed the cover so I can ride to the dealership and plead my case. Geez.

Use some tape to keep it there, or, if it doesn't rain, ride without cover.

If you're talking about the screw that holds the battery cover on at the bottom, just throw that sob away, the tabs at the top will hold the cover on. The only time you'll ever need to remove the cover for a jump start will be the time you don't have a screwdriver with you.[:@]

I've run without mine for thousands of miles and every time I have the bike serviced they put another one on.

Good Luck

Tom

If bolt isn't boogered up, hole threads must be hosed. Just re-tap the hole, add some anti sieze and be done with it
