Here's a lame question
Can I do the same thing to the gas cap and trim ring on the FXD?
I'm only asking because I already put a chrome thingy on the battery box.
By the way, the brushed battery box goodie only matches the trim on the Super Glide. Why they stuck it on anything else is beyond me.

guys anything that is metal will polish! the type of metal is what matters... i polish stuff all the time! my current build, valve covers, both side engine cases, lower legs, levers, master cylinder, conecting rod, sprocket cover... all have been polished... just takes time and work... i like to use a buffing wheel wiht varriable speeds, and roughes.... i typically will use a fine wire wheel to get everything off... then sand... then hit it with my heavy compound and rough wheel... moving on to a microfiber wheel and polishing compounds... depends how nice and clean you want it....
some times people want a mirror effect on my yamaha i wanted to keep it polished but not so much mirror...
as far as taking care of it... super easy, wax works... if you really want to be nuts you can powder clear it... as long as you take care of your bike and keep it clean it will be fine

if you take your time and really polish it up right, all you have to do is wax it every now and then... if you are really worried about it you can always powder them clear... either way... polishing is an easy process just takes alot of time to do it right... if anyone needs a step by step i can write one up to help ya'll... i have a few parts i have to do for my brother and can take some pics as i go along if it will help anyone.

hahaha If my wife opened up the dishwasher and found some of my motorcycle parts there would be hell raising hilarity at my house. I may just have to try that just to see the look on her face.
