hindsight is twenty twenty.
The beginning of 2007 I was looking at rice rockets for me first bike.
One look at the nightster and I was a harley guy. Being impulsive (which I normally am not)
has got me in trouble. One week before I got married I boughta 2005 FXDI.I bought thinking I was getting agood deal. Itonly had 400miles on it.Now everytime I go to a stealer I keep looking at the black denim st. bob. I like the beefer front end, the black engine and case and the bars. I am putting st. bob bars on my supergilde. I know I will take a HUGE hit if I trade it. I doubt I will get what I paid for it right now cause Im still paying taxes. I am a crossroads.
Do I spend the money to turn mine into a st. bob (as close as I can) or take the hit and get the st bob. I would
probably come out cheaper keeping mine and put bars, new front end, maybe even laced wheels.
I think there wasa question in there somewhere. lol All opinions are welcome.
thanks

RE: hindsight is twenty twenty.
Normally I'd say, screw it, get the St Bob. However, with only 400 miles on the Super glide, I might ride it for a while without spending any $$ on it, all the while looking for a good used St Bob at a dealer, then do the trade. Or post in the classified section here on the forum looking to trade or on craigslist.
You won't gain much trading at a dealer now versus in 6 months, or a year. The major depreciation has already taken place.
I've seen some amazing deals on used St Bobs under $11k at local dealers. Used market is glutted right now and dealers need to turn over their stock, and this likely will continue into the near future.
Good Luck!

Keep what you have, make it fit you!!

You must have liked it when you bought it so keep it and make it yours. If you buy a st bob you will only want something else sooner or later.

The only way I could ever feel like there wasn't a different bike I might like more (at least certain days) is if I had a garage full of about 7-8 different ones. That would be true no matter what bike I had. Any bike is a bit of a compromise, so I vote with the ones saying to make yours suit you.
