Texas License Plate Question

RE: Texas License Plate Question
I moved my stock inspection plate down to where the lower chain guard bolts to the swing arm. There are 2 small screws fastening it and I notched the inspection plate and bent the top edge 90 degrees and tucked it in between the 2 screws between the guard and the swing arm. It's not an eyesore sticking off the back fender anymore.

RE: Texas License Plate Question
Had it mounted like this on my softail Deuce a few years ago also.
On my Dyna, I just made a stainless steel plate and mounted it to the front upper belt guard.
Used a round rubber washer behind the plate and it is only mounted with the one fastener and never had any problems.........with the bracket moving or with Law Enforcement. In fact, I have had a few complements on the relocation and the mounting simplicity itself.
I also have the Kury plate mount.......I like it better than the screamin Eagle mount I initially installed!!!

Ronn, I'm only posting what I found at the DPS website today.
I am far from an authority on the subject,
and laws do change.
Awhile back My longtime inspector told me exactly what I see at the DPS.
My guy don't care where it goes, but if someone wants it
other than the standard as above, he hands it to you
and you put it wherever you want.
I doubt the Cops would pull you over for it,
My philosophy is this -
Never give a Dog a reason to bark.

RE: Texas License Plate Question
The bottom line is that if the "man" wants to pull you over, he will find a reason.
I had one pull me over and tell me that my tail-light wasn't bright enough during the day. The bike was my '03 and it was only 3 months old. As one of my friends told me "his wife probably ran off with a biker"
But.......the fact is, don't give them additional reasons to stop you.
