Windshield for WideGlide

RE: Windshield for WideGlide
I had to make this same decision just a week or two ago. I had been thinking on this windshield thing for a good long time. I needed a windshield, but unfortunately I am of the opinion that no windshield really looks good on my Wide Glide.
This battle of form vs. function got very frustrating. When I'd find a windshield that looked tolerable, it didn't give me the coverage I wanted.
I knew I wanted a windshield for a few reasons, none of which had anything to do with looks, since I felt they all look bad. I needed a windshield for cold weather riding, longer trips, and sometimes in the summer time there are a few rides we take where the bugs get out of hand.
I finally just caved and got HD's Quick Release Standard Height Compact Windshield (part # 58387-06). The smaller windshields defeated the whole purpose of offering protection I wanted, and since in my opinion any windshield was going to look bad, I might as well get the one that's really going to keep the wind/debris away.

IMNSHO, NO windscreen looks as if it belongs on a Dyna. Permanent windscreens are for geezer glides.
That said, I have an HD sport windscreen with the quick release clamps. I install it for my trips to/from Houston and remove it when I get into town. I'll leave it on for cold/wet weather riding or for trips over 200 miles and you can bet it will be on when I do my Alaskapade run from Texas this summer.
