Default Did your dealer have an end-of-year sale?

Thanks to a phone call from a friend of mine this past Saturday morning, I found out my local dealer was having an end-of-year sale to trim down their in-stock merchandise.

This dealership is a strict MSRP kinda place. Whatever HD's MSRP -- that's what this dealer charges for everything, including bikes, so I was surprised to discover the 30% off sale on all HD accessories and motorclothes.

I stopped down to make some purchases I've been putting off for some time now; a backrest setup, and windshield. Here's how I made out:
[ul][*]52866-06 Detachable Sideplates $88.19 (MSRP $140)[*]52754-04 Med-Low Sissy Bar $50.39 (MSRP $80)[*]52626-04 Med-Low Smooth Backrest Pad $36.53 (MSRP $60)[*]53964-06 Docking Hardware Kit $15.74 (MSRP $25)[*]58387-06 Quick Release Standard Windshield $214.16 (MSRP $340)[/ul] Total: $405.01 (MSRP $645)

I 'saved' $240 Saturday at the dealership. I don't think I could have done better anywhere on the net, including eBay, for brand new HD parts. On top of the 30% sale, the parts guy plugged in my usual 10% HOG membership discount on top of it so I ended up with a total 40% off. I still can't believe it.

If you were livin' under a rock like me and didn't know your dealer had a big sale like this every year, save your bigger purchases 'til December. [&:]

Hey, sounds like you made out like a bandit, Bry.
40% means the stealer is only getting probably 10-20%
Too late for this year, but I'll remember it next.

Yeah, my dealer had the Christmas week deals going on, everyday was 20% - 30% off certain category of stock items. One day shoes, the next clothes, next bikes, etc...
I stopped in a couple of days, but still couldnn't afford ****. Maybe next year...

Wasn't my dealer but I went to one a week and a half ago that had everything in stock, except batteries and tires, 25% off and some stuff 50% off. I wanted some Big Radius pipes but they didn't have them in stock but they still ordered them for me at 25% off. Thought that was cool of them to do. Didn't beat the net but got them for about the same price as the best I've seen on the net. And, now, I won't feel bad if I decide to get them to install them as I would if I brought them in with me and asked them to install. Jury is still out on installing myself or not...

That reward points system sounds pretty good to me. Especially if you're able to purchase enough to really reap the benefits like you with the free spun aluminum speedo/tach. I've eye'd those up a few times. If it's the one I'm picturing, it has the retro look. Nice job on that deal.

That's a killer deal. My buddy was hoping they would order him a tour pack for his Street Glide, but no go. This was strictly for in-stock items.

I agree. If I can get items locally for at least close to what I can get on the 'net, I buy locally. I won't fret over a few bucks. keeps my money local, and I can see the item in person, which is always a plus.

Install yourself. That way, I have something to refer to (your step-by-step how-to thread) when I go to do it myself one of these days.

The dealer in Orange, VA did 15% off weekly for the 4 weeks leading up to Xmas on selected items (1 week clothing, another selected parts etc...). Not much of a discount considering MoCo prices for some of this stuff, but managed to get a couple of items.
