Who's removed their belt guard?

Who's removed their belt guard?
Got me thinking, from an earlier post. Who's removed their LOWER belt guard?
I know it's there to keep junk out from getting between the belt and rear sprocket, but after looking in 4 different cycl publications, almost NONE of the builders, including Big Dog, yadda, yadda, yadda are even using them...
The reason I ask is due to installing a new Avon rear tire and having it scrape the guard. Maybe the guard is warped (12 year old plastic) but the tire scrapes it when correctly adjusted, although without it, I have about a 1/4" of room.
Any removers out there and have the results been favorable? Unfavorable? Rather be abducted by aliens, AGAIN, and anally probed.....AGAIN.

I like egg salad, besides it's good for you
I did remove my belt guard and the lower debri deflector............................. then I put them back on.
I decided I liked the looks of the bike better with the belt guard on it, and put the debri deflector back on at the same time, mostly because I was having HD techs replace my rear tire, and thought they might want to use the gauge on it to adjust the belt.
I removed the passenger pegs I installed when I purchased the Dyna, and got carried away removing stuff.
The pegs are staying off, the upper belt guard is staying on.............. Just can't decide on the the lower deflector, but just might take it off, again. Why is it there, anyway??
I guess I should have voted for I removed it and it changed my life forever, but since I reinstalled it I am confused
Happy New Year!!

Which, is actually right back on topic,
considering the fact that Lumpy made note,
in the original post,
of his experience being rammed in the butt by aliens.

It picks up at the 2:12 mark.....
Ooooooh.....BIG misunderstanding there, MP. It was Alien ****-probing day, and apparently I was the only smart one to bring a cold case of beer. It INSTANTLY gave me exoneration, and we just drank and traded biker stories..... I never had the experience nor did I signed the "Can we look you up when we return?" guest book, on my way out of the shace craft. I did take a free mint, though. (They were in the basket, on the table, by the exitdoor)
The lower cover is there to help deflect stones and debris from the rear tire, and having them land on the upward face of the belt, that's about to get sucked into the rear pulley. This is to avoid damage to the belt and the pulley, if a rock manages to get in there.
Harley uses a piece of plastic, with a metal strip and a thin sheet of reinforced rubber in between, to almost hang down between the belt and the tire, making a "shroud" of sorts to prevent anything from getting onto the belt. The metal strip acts as a friction strip, in the event the tire does scrape it, that it won't damage or melt the rubber and plastic.
Funny thing is: When I got the bike, it already had a stone wedged in the belt, despite the cover being in place. I have another friend who has a stone in his belt, despite the cover BEING IN PLACE. I'm beginning to think it's there more "Safety related" (Passenger's feet, fingers, shoes) to keep people out of the moving belt.
I'm also beginning to think that if a stone wanders onto the belt, I'd rather give it a free and clear path to escape, and not be caught in some plastic/rubber tunnel, where belt/sprocket mating is inevitable.
I'm taking it off.......
