This problem of getting the axle out happens a lot. The reason it is stuck is because of rust inside the spacer sleeve that sits between the bearing races inside the hub.
All you can do is pound the axle out of the bike using a brass rod of about 5/8 inch diameter against the end of the axle. The reason for the brass rod is to protect the axle threads.
The axle spins because what is holding the axle is the spacer tube between the bearings inside the hub. The axle and spacer are stuck together, but rotate because the bearings turn. This spacer you will see when you get the axle removed.
Shoot some penetranting oil down the axle at both ends. The bearing inner races will most likely keep it from reaching the spacer, but it may help get the axle moving.
Just pound the **** out of it and it will come out.
When you put the axle back in, cover it and that spacer sleeve with Anti-Sieze and you will not have the problem again.......pg

We knew you would get it. It's a bit unnerving to whack anything on your bike that hard isn't it?
Keep us posted with pix! I just had to spend $700+ on new tires for the wife's Jeep so my fun money for mods is gone for a while. I've been a little out of control lately anyway.
