O.K. , but since a lot of my so-called friends ride soft-tails, I rather go back to the meaning of that...........soft...........tail..........yeah,

Dyna for Dynamic - Soft-tail for soft.......tail..........

Works for me.

Kind of found this website: http://www.powerpassion.nl/harley/story-engels.html

In 1991, The Dyna line of Harley-Davidson's was introduced with the FXDB Dyna Glide Sturgis. 1994 saw the jump of Harley-Davidson into the Superbike racing with the VR1000. The VR1000 featured a dual overhead cam and a liquid cooled engine and showed that Harley-Davidson was not fully averse to manufacturing a race inspired sport bike.

Hope it helps, seems like the Dyna's came to the rescue of the softails...............

You have lots of comments but no one answered your Q. Here is the answer.

I asked a friend who is a HD service manager about my DYNA, here is a copy of the Q and A.

Q) 1st question. The rear end sometimes feels loose like the axle is shifting. Any ideas?

A) That iswhy it's a Dyna -for dynamicaly self aligning. The engine, primary housing, transmission and swingarm are bolted together and then rubber mounted to the frame. The rubber mounts will flex and change the steering geometry to some extent. Kind of nature of the beast.

Good answer Impala,.

I don't care if it is fact or not. Makes sense. That is the answer I will go with.

Like so many things that the PR or Advertising Departments come up with, it was probably the result of a brain storming session along with many other possible names which were presented to upper management. Management saw the name Dyna and said “Hey this is it; we will call it the Dyna glide”
