Default How do I remove battery cover???

I'm trying to get the battery out of my '04 Wideglide, but for the life of me cannot figure it out.

I've tried sliding the cover between the top of battery and frame but it's not coming easily. I can't find anything to undo.

Can anyone who has done this help me out??

Cheers

If it's like my street bob, there is a phillips screw on the bottom side of the cover. Back the screw out and pull the cover out.

did you try pulling it straight towards you? it might just have clips holding it to the tray

Yeah, it comes straight off on my '04 WG. Be careful though since the stupid battery terminals are so damn close to the frame rail. Did you unscrew the battery frame "lowering" bolt? You have to take one screw out which is horizontal, then loosen (do not remove!) the one which is vertical to lower the tray away from the top frame rail. this allows JUST enough room to swing the battery tray out a bit. The cover should just come off then. It kind of gets pinched between the frame rail the battery box (cover) when everything is tight to hold it on. Your book explains how to do this...

EDIT ---> The bolt you remove is behind the battery box, above the passenger footpeg mount and is black. The bolt you loosen to drop the tray is right above the black one and is silver. You can't miss them. Just remember not to remove the one that lowers the tray. Would post a picture but I'm tired right now...

F-it, I'm not that tired...:

I've had both all the way out on my W/G. Had to remove the vertical one to get it to swing down far enough.
