Default high speed balance?

anybody ever hear of this?

...i've got an '07 wide glide stock chrome laced rim...took it to the dealer to have them mount a new OEM tire....they asked if I wanted a high speed balance ...i figured, "what the heck" and had it done

but when i picked it up, the rim had no wheel weights on it ....am i missing something here?

..did they balance the wheel, or did these people rake me?

i did, didn't I? ....because standard balancing "might" include wheel weights, but only if the "dot" on the OEM tire wasn't lined up with the valve, as i understand it

....and so if you're going to go beyond that, then it stands to reason you would use wheel wheels to further fine tune it

So ... hang on a second ... if I get a new tire mounted at the dealer's, I'm going to have to pay them extra to get the f*cking thing balanced? What if the thing wobbles so badly that you fly off the bike at 70mph? Is that normal in the US, I've never had a tire changed here ... in Germany, I'd beat the living crap out of someone who told me I'd have to "pay or die" ...

well, mounting it is what you're paying for.... standard balancing is no charge....but the "high speed" balance was 25.00 ....i didn't have a problem with that, really, considering what i've read about it....BUT, i don't think they did it....

so now, someone is getting a @#*%!*! beating at that dealership, if I found out I was lied to and ripped off!

ask them to put it on their machine and do it again - I guess it's possible it could be perfect if they lined up the "dot" - who knows.

for tires - I go to a local indy guy. He has a high end machine that won't scratch the chrome,he mounts the tire, balances it - and charges me $20 total. I'm glad he makes a few bucks on the tire purchase - which is still cheaper than i can get anywhere else - because I want him in business.

I guess my point is - look at the indy guys for tires and parts - much better than the stealer.

WTF in "our world" is high speed balancing?* U get (pay) for a new tire, the processes is simple; Remove wheel, remove tire, tube, rimstrip. Check spokes (if they dont, they are azzholes) true if necessary. Replace rimstrip, tube, tire, balance*.Reinstall on bike. Test ride. Give back to customer (prey for tip). Customer goes home happy and confident.

*Granted a wheel balanced @ 100 MPH may not feel so good @ 200 MPH.** But "our world" is 120 and below. And a 120 isSERIOUSLY Pushin' it.

** You actually make it to200MPH? Trust me,There are many more things to worry about
