Default are baffles better?

does anyone know if there are any performances advantages to running with baffles? i have V & H straight shot slips ons on my low rider. i threw in a set of quiet baffles last spring but took them out again because it seemed all i got was a hotter running motor. no real change in sound or performance. the dealer just installed 510 cams and i was wondering if the baffles might make any difference now...with the new cams.

I don't know about baffles a whole lot .. I've never used a pair. Some of my buddys run them in the winter just so that cold air doesnt rush into your pipes and cool the valves down to quickly and get a possible warpage. The baffles let it stay hotter longer. I use a little tennis ball and shove it in the end of my 2n1 when I get done riding when its cold out. I know that baffles will somehow give you a better bottom or midrange. I don't really care about losingsome torque or midrange hp... I didnt buy it to race anybody. I have my pc3 loaded up with fuel just to be on the safe side against lean issues. when I had them carburated .. I just got big jet kits and ran em open.

As abcd hit on, more baffling can give you some more backpressure and maintain a little more low end torque than open baffles or no baffles.

Talk to VH, the quiet baffles were not designed for the HS slip ons. They were disigned to be used with the ones that have a power chamber. It wasmy impression after talking to them that baffles would not really help with torgue when using the slip ons.

Yeah, it depends on what type of baffles. If you have well-designed mufflers and baffles they will run better than open pipes at every throttle position other than WFO.

They may not be designed for them (interesting factoid) but they sell them for them and people are using them. And, unless I'm mistaken, fuelpak even has different settings for the slipons if you are using the quiet baffles or not. So they must have some affect on things or there would be no need for different fuelpak settings.
