RE: Aftermarket Bullet Headlight on my 07
I just got my light in...4hrs later than normal...thanks UPS. Anyway, it looks like it can use the stock hardware, but Im not with my bike so Im not 100% sure. I will be going home shortly to start the install. I'll probably have pics and post around 9 tonight (Texas time).

Okay I lied - can't wait for tomorrow. Well, I will have to wait for complete install but I got a little done/checked anyway. Looks like the stock mount, at least on my FXDC will work. Not a lot of room for aiming adjustment but it should be tolerable. The bracket on the light shell is thicker hardware though and so my stock through-bolt, washers, lockwasher, and nut won't work. I can barely get it on with 1 very thin washer and the nut and can only tighten the bolt about half way into the nut. So, tomorrow I'll get what I need to complete this.
I haven't done any wiring but I did unplug and remove the old light and mount the new one up and took some pix (below). Honest opinions - I can take it. I've learned to do what makes me happy and not worry so much about what others think.
Trotter, or anyone else, if you have any tips for properly aiming a headlight or at least getting it close, I'd appreciate you posting it.
Oh, and before anyone panics that I haven't removed my seat and strapped the bike down, I only have it jacked up far enough to hold it straight. It's easier to work on that way. Plenty of weight is still on the floor and it's sturdy enough to wait until tomorrow.

Any thoughts on the light using the stock mount vs. the mount that came with it? I may just go ahead and get the hardware to do both and try it both ways.
Also, any opinion on my signal lights? Now they look like I may like them better above the lower tree instead of below it with this headlight. I installed them down there because my QD windshield partially covers the lights if they are up top. But, I rarely use the windshield anyway.
Thanks again for all the help and advice...

I couldnt wait either. The stock bolt off of my FXDB was just a little long, so I put a thick washer on, and it works fine. I like the signal lights above the tree myself. Its not a big deal with the shield on. I didnt think I'd like the small light, but it looks really good on yours. I'll also take criticism or compliments from anyone. I'll take more pics when the rest of the bike is back together.
