Yeah I paint at midwest superstore .. Toyota and Ford dealership. That's funny as hell. We use Sikkens paint. I have a Sata 3000 Rp 1.3 for my clear gun, sata 2000 1.4 for my hard metallics and a 3M gun I use for just common colors. I want an older Sata NR95 .. just hard to find one. Airbrushes I have an Iwata and a SataGraph. A Sata minijet4 touch up gun I use alot for edging in parts and core supports, etc. Glad to see that there's another painter on here. Awesome.

I was sent down to fort worth, tx 3 weeks ago for waterborne paint products and applications through Akzo Nobel (SIKKENS). Pretty neat stuff, but here in kansas it isn't feasable. In california and such with pollution and all you guys will probably need to start using it or already are??
Mud, I'd be willing to help you. Just ask me or venturachop. 40 years ago paint knowledge? Wow, dude you'd be lost buying stuff now a days .. lol A paint job is all in surface treatment and prep work. For your bare tanks in order to paint them I know that PPG had some amazing epoxy self etching primer you can spray first and then follow with some high build urethane primer. That way your tank would be protected from corrosion and you'd beable to block and sand all day long on the high build urethane to get it smooth without breaking down into the epoxy primer. Then seal it, base it, clear it, wetsand it and clear it again and you'll be looking alright. lol
No seriously, if you have any questions just ask. I use SIKKENS paints, he uses PPG, they both have really great products that each other doesnt have, so let us know. Before I shot SIKKENS, our shot used PPG and Standox .. just stay away from DuPont, .. that shlt is junk.

I am an old timer that thinks Lacquer with a nice sanding and rubbing compound, followed by corn starch, is Da Bom!!!!
