No, I did not get it myownself.
Was gonna ask HEVIL, you beat me to it.

I picked up another tank from HDFDyna brother MDodson.
He mentioned it a few pages back.

I am going to section it down to about 2 and a half inchs more narrow.

Mud, great job putting together the index.
Last week I put together my Ooga Booga A/C cover bolt and today I made my bullet key.
For my key I had a buddy make me a dummy round, he gave me a S&W 500 MAG.
I don't know much about guns and ammo but thats one big pistol round.
I'll try to get some pics. up this weekend.
Lookin forward to seeing the pictures Brian.

Mud,
You don't seem to be short any time for taking pics (thank goodness - i've learned more from your tuts and pics than just a description). You considered filming some of your work and slapping the video up on youtube or google video, etc so we can see you pound that metal into submission? Even the cheapie digital cameras have a film option on them these days.

I'd love to see how you handled that tank. No doubt some others here would too. Especially those of us who don't have the tools and knowhow that you do.

Good questions Ray, thanks.

Here are some better pix of the beat tool.

I like wood for this type of beating. White Pine in this case.

First picture below shows both ends, which are shaped slightly different,
and a leather mallet.

This next picture shows the narrow end.
Notethat the "narrow"surface is also slightly rounded.

The edges that run the length are eased,
so you can hang on to the apparatus comfortably
during a lengthy beating.

The "narrow" surface was used first along the green horizontal line.
Love taps at first, progressing to a more violent striking action
as the operation proceeds.

The other end is about twice as wide.
I used this after the green line was punched in about a half inch

Work outward progressivelyfrom the green line.
You cannot jump around from here to there.

You're question about "like a chisel" -

Don't quite follow you, but. I think the answer is no.

The intrument is struck in a "straight on" manner.

Then the AllMetal.

Very, very nice! ... Excellent description

thank you for the follow-up.

Dang, Mud, you don't play!

I was thinking I would have time this afternoon to help with that index,

but you've already got it whooped.

Probably just as well- by the time you sorted through somebody else's stuff

you could probably have done it yourself.
Beat ya to it Dawg.

I think the index on page one will be an asset.

Anyone with comments or suggestions on the index formatting, speak up.

I am still working on the layout.

strich, I do like to document things on "film".

A video would be real nice to have, wouldn't have to stop and snap.
A time saver for sure, And I don't have a lot of time left to waste.

As to the tank beatin, I considered for a week or so
before I struck the first blow.
Once you get started with a beatin like that,
there ain't no turnin back.
