Nicely done sir. Hopefully people see this video. That question sure does get asked a lot....
Yeah. It was kinda bugging me about how people were talking about all of these other methods. I've done two fenders now and my forks on my Dyna. My 2000 Sportster still has them... It will be fun to see if they're any different or leave any discoloration from them protecting the forks from the sun for 13-14 years.
Weird. Pics attached anyway. His indicators are positioned near the top of his shock mounts and he made a connector so that he can just plug the indicator in to the ammo box one's without taking the stock one's off, if that makes sense.
Do you have a a bracket to keep the box off the bike like stock bags? or is it rigid enough to stay in place?
What size back tire is that?
I like that trick too. If you still have the football, you can do the 'football mod' and put that on the pan if you wish. Mine is a Wally World mess kit bottom which just happened to perfectly fit over the filter, and the mod piece fit it as a face plate:
Admittedly, it has to be polished, but I love polishing my scoot. That copper pressure gauge line can be a booger tho.
Yes, the lower cover for the gauge is made from an oil filter; saw it in here and had ta DO it.
Sorry for the old phone pix; gotta get my new android busy....
Wow, that came out great, wish i had thought of that.
The oil pressure gauge undercover made from a chrome filter, I got from this thread; I don't take cred for that one. I chose the analog dipstick thermometer because of all the failed digital ones we read about: 2 years and still working fine. I did have to put an o-ring on it for a tighter seal though.
awesome thread lots of great ideas took me two days to make it though. some very cleaver people on this site and talented! cant wait to start the customization on mine.
