Good Morning Folks,

I've been looking for all the information on this subject that I can find; same problem still going on. I'm on my third set of bearings, it ate the clutch hub bearing at the same time.

Here are the threads that I've posted on, I hope that this helps keep the information in one place for all that need it:

https://www.hdforums.com/m_2244261/tm.htm
https://www.hdforums.com/m_2268712/tm.htm

and I'll copy this to: https://www.hdforums.com/m_2540619/tm.htm

The 06 FXDI, has around 20K miles on it and less than 1K miles on the last set of bearings and already I'm woundering if I'm starting to hear the "throw out bearing" noise.

Hopefully, I'll get enough miles on it before the warranty runs out, 4/24/08.

Best wisdhes,

Pixs

Thanks for posting the info......... Those of us that have had the problem, and the HD run around, certainly appreciate it.
It is totally wierd, this tranny thing doesn't seem to have any real pattern to it.
I think it is a quality control issue on the assembly line, but HD ain't talking.

You're welcome, someone had to do it. Now you should move the whole thing to the primary etc. section so that folks can find it.

Your last line is telling, we all think but want to know. What is needed here are real facts that will help solve this problem. It looks to me like JBE has found something no one else has, I'll bet that the inner primary cover and the tranny cover needs to be changed as well.

Best wishes to all, even those of you that don't have this problem,LOL,

Mine is currently in the shop. Seems the ipb 'race' is the problem. They have to replace about 3 parts. I called HD headquarters prior to taking it in just to make sure. Luckily I'm still covered under warranty. Once I get the scoot back I will re-post with all that was done to it. Thanks for the info on this gents, was a HUGE help.

Ride on!

Race, Inner bearing, retaining ring, roller bearing replaced. The race had backed out. 'common problem' per my dealer. Well, at least they replaced it under warranty. I have 14k miles.
Hope this may help someone else. Oh and Phil, i did get the 'everything is ok letter' as well.

far as i am concerned if hd says its not being replaced at there dollor when have all the papers on it originally sposed to been replaced at 15k I will be contacting attorney general to see what happens then.so far so good original bearing at 33k.
Pisses me off when the dealers think they can just screw us over on warranty work especially.
