I Love them all.. And hate it when I hear the Newer Generation comparing the different models.. In the old days it was just owning a Harley that made it all good.. I guess thing just change....
I think"Dyna vs Softail" isjust friendly banter. Here in Chicago, Cub fans and White Sox fans go at it with each other but 90% of the time it isjust ingood fun. 10% of the time involves morons being a$$ holes.

Kind of like, "It's OK for me to insult my brother, but if an outsider insults him, look out!"

In all seriousness, I probably outa get ya to take mine for a spin around the block when we meet up, if you don't mind. Hearing you talk about the Dynas in general make me realize a totally smooth cruise on mine is probablya really good day, and the strange little vibrations that crop up are more than likely, normal.
It is just they come and go.................. Kinda like the voices in my head

you cannot go wrong with a Dyna: price, engine power, great ride and very reliable.

The Softy is too short (length) for my 6'2" frame, and if I wanted something that looks like a hard tail, I would have gotten a hard tail...Love my Wide Glide because dagnabit, you should at least feel something while riding. When a bike is too comfortable, it ceases being fun, at least in my book.

The only thing else I would consider would be a bagger, but as a second bike.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have perpetuated the softy/dyna flame war. After all, they are both Harley's and that's all good...

I have just gone through the same process of choosing one over the other. At the end I took both (Street Bob and Night Train) for an extended test ride (few hours each). The Dyna is far superior when it comes to handling and balance. It certainly not a sports bike territory but it likes spirited cornering. I also loved the idle vibration you get from your SB.
NT was silky smooth at idle but developed this annoying handlebar vibration at speed. (put my hands to sleep).

After the test ride, I'd take SB over softail any day. Ideally I would love the SB and Deluxe in my garage.

Cheers
Vlad
