looks great! Did you seal them with anything? I would use something to coat them... about the only clear coat that will not yellow in the sun is Epoxy clear... but you will never have to worry about corosion... either that or maybe some good quality wax... they look great!

Man, that is exactly what I've been wanting to do. Looks great! Are you gonna use some kind of coating or sealer?

Joe, once you spend a couple hours stripping clear coat off the last thing you want to do is re clear coat.If you store your bike indoors and polish the aluminum every once in awhile it won't corrode. My last bike http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u...clepics008.jpg
has had polished sliders for about 5 years now I polish them every other month or so I haven't seen any corrosion yet.

Not gonna recoat them.I don't mind polishing to keep them looking good.I like the look of polished aluminum. It has a more natural, warmer feel to it than chrome.I'm going for a balance of aluminum, chrome and paint.

Another nice thing about polished aluminum is that it doesn't show fingerprints and smudges quite as bad as chrome. That picture of my old Suzi is taken right after a bath it hadn't even been polished yet just washed and dried.I've found that since giving that bike to my wife the aluminum doesn't seem to need to be polished as much as it did when I owned it.My Bob is strictly wash, dry, ride, repeat.I've been meaning to wax all the shiny parts I just never seem to get around to it.

Have to agree, polished aluminum can be made nearly as shiny as chrome but has that warmer/natural look. Like Ed said, once you bring out the shine on billet aluminum it doesn't take much to keep it up. The Mothers Mini Powerball works great on my wheels and triple trees.
I hope to get around to doing my lowers in the next year or so

I recommend looking at Harbor Freight for an aluminum polishing kit. It comes with different shaped wheels and polishing compounds. With that kit I was able to make my old Sportster aluminum shine. They also make a similar kit for Stainless Steel it just has some different polishing compounds. Best thing is it is only $20
