Mud,
Nothing beats tweaking and modifying what you already have.
Nice job on both of them, they both look good
and would make a nice touch for anyones bike.
I agree with that 100% Formula. No doubt about it.

Gotta hand it to you for coming up with this
technique on the stock covers.

Never woulda done mine till navy asked me to do his 07.
So I did my stocker as a warm up.

It's an easy operation, and very rewarding.

Then wet sand polish with about 280 grit wore out paper.

I understand about the being careful no matter the technique. Why you think they call me "9 toes", [sm=joke.gif] Have you met my sister, "Ilene"...
You meanwell used280 grit sandpaper? I usually toss it out when it's worn out. What would that equate to in new sandpaper? 600 maybe?

shooter, new 280 would probably be okay as well.

Wore out 280 is what I had laying by the sink in my studio.

My defintion of time to throw it away is
when it breaks down to a point I'm tireda lookin at it.

My trade I keep a lotta everything in inventory
but I don't waste it til it's beyond it's useful life.
I hate going to the store.
I don't have that time to spare at this stage of my life.

Gotcha mud. Sounds like you get your money out of materials.
Nice link. You do the work on the old Frost bank Building? I spent a couple years in San Antonio. Back in the early 80's. Nice place, real nice. Whitte Museum of Natural History(?), Paseo Del Rio, The Alamo, Hell they even still brewed beer there back then. And the old round arena/colleseum the name slips me at the moment. Handy Andy grocery Stores, Big Daddy's niteclub, the San Antonio Inn, Whatta Burger... Man, it's a Saturday nite and I'm reminising about the old days, over a couple barley pops. Man, it's ben a looong time.

Yeah shooter, now you got me thinking back.

The link - yeah, that's my work.

Last picture below is me at work a year or two ago.
60 feet above the floor,
the picture was snapped from a hundred feet away.

And, since you ask about the old Frost bank building,
I restored all of the ornamental stuccowork there about 12-15 years ago.
And, while I was there, I produced my interpretation of the SATx City Crest
(the other three pix).
Hangs right behind the Mayors chair
in what is now home to the City Council.
When you were here in the 80s,
there was a Luby's Cafeteria in the building.

You mention "the old round arena/colleseum" -
That would be the HemisFair Arena.
I helped build it in 67, for our World's Fair in 1968.
It's gone now, bulldozed.

in the early80s, I bought my HK P9S at a gunshow
in the HemisFair Arena.
Think I paid 600 bux or a little more.
I still have it, my favorite sidearm.

I could go on and on about San Antonio.
My family helped found the city.
My g g g g grandfather was born here when it was still part of mexico.
Spent time in a mexican prison, escaped,
went on to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence,
and the Texas Constitution.

Tired of typing.

Hemis Fair Arena, that's it. Saw some good shows there. You certainly do some excellent looking work, mud. Yoiu are a true craftsman. Although your girlfriend in the last pic looks a little stiff. But it looks like she wants to shake hands.

Mudd, If you look at the side view of my ACC You'll notice that where the raised part of the original 07 cover was(left and right side) is missing the lip/ridge on the sides, not the top and bottom.
The lip/ridge does not run a full 360 degrees on the 07 cover.
On your 06(?) cover thats not an issue as the raised lip/ridge part is a full 360 degrees.
Now on the 07 you did i dont see the missing parts of thelip/ridge. How did you do that? Like I said your a genous! Please tell me.
I hope I explained this good enough.

Mike

OK I think i can see it now in your pic.

I took off enough the eliminate the (lip??)

Made it even around the black.

Wrapped a piece of 12 gauge wire,
marked with felt tip pen,
then trimmed it down to even look.

Your picture is not really clear to me.
