Actually it's a fairly thick painted outer metal cover,
the whole thing is is very well made and the backing plate is very thick,
impressed with the workmanship of the Doherty.

I like what you did with the Dixie Lady sweet,
that was a original B-17 bomber nose art picture, one of many I have.
Heres the one from the other side the MD line.

Thanks for the info on the Doherty filter Johnny.
How far does the black painted outer metal cover
extend in toward the center??

I like Whistlin better than Doodle, they're both nice though.

It's a solid piece with three small holes where it fastens the filter to the backing plate and one center hole for the cover. I'm kinda partial to Dixie myself.

PiginaBlanket- Did you have to cut the center trim out of the stock A/C and how did you attach it to the replacement A/C?

Yep,I have done exactly that.I didn't want to run an open filter as I ride in the rain occasionally and just don't like the idea of it being soaked while it's running. It is open at the bottom though to get more air.

I'm kinda new around these parts, just read thru this thread and really like what I'm seeing. Excellent work making a sweet looking custom cover out of the football Mud!

I just bought this 07 Wide Glide and had the dealer do the stage 1 a/c, I really like the stock nameplate ring but not a big fan of the football so when I saw this mod I knew I wanted it. Mud, would ya' have time to do an 07 Wide Glide from Michigan? Looks like the weather is gonna' keep me off my ride for a couple weeks yet so I'll rip the football off and ship it right away if your willing.

I guess the next thing I need to do is PM you for details, I'll get to that when I get home from work this evening.

Thx, Al.

Al, it's done and headed for Michigan. (pix below)

I think this is the first WideGlide.

Hope the weather clears out soon for you and hkshooter.

mud.........
