Heat as far as I know heat caused the end cap to change colors.
I bet he swapped his to make them match, in time.
I say that because the front cylinder stays cooler than the rear.

Am I correct or all wet?

Rinehart slipons sound great, take notice the bottom muffler end cap will discolor . Bugs the crap out of me, one cap is dark black like the bike and the other has a reddish color to it. Im on my 3rd cap from Rinhart and they do not make chrome end caps for the slip ons.

I haven't swapped the tips, in fact if I posted closeups you'd see the grinding on the bottom tip from some aggressive cornering in the twisties.

The answer to the riddle - the bottom pipe is subjected to heat radiating off the top pipe in addition to heat from the bottom pipe.

Now I don't know whether this is because the front cylinder runs hotter than the rear, or if it is heat reflecting off the top pipes heat shield (hey it has to go somewhere).
