.
.
First picture is how I do rear wheel lowering/raising for
shock removal, tire change, access to under fender, etc.

Second is support when removing a buncha weight off
one end or the other.

Third shows what can happen to the adapters after a while
if you don't use have them flat on the lifting platform.

Next is the shear pin on the Sears yellow.
That pin mics out way under 1/8th inch.
Poor design?? Or was I just too violent with it??
Don't over tighten the release valve handle.
Not necessary.

Last is a November day here in South Texas.

Thanks, mud! Even though "jacking up your bike" sounds quite simple, it is a bit confusing. Especially doing it solo. I know I had a serious 'pucker problem' the first time I tried doing it by myself. A serious [sm=oopssign.gif] was narrowly avoided. You did an excellent job of describing it. And the pic only add to the lesson. How did you remedy the 'shifting adapter' problem in pic #3?
BTW, ya gotta love them little blue buttons in the last pic[sm=gears.gif]

Bought a new set for a real right price from a member here.

I may try re-bonding the originals,
not sure what adhesive to use.

At eleven to one, gotta have the buttons.

Thanks Mud, The red jack is a little bit different it seems a bit sturdier but I'm not sure.I'm fine without the adapters but at least now I know what they are.

Just a couple of quick comments. Mudd, I think that contact adhesive will work well for reglueing the pads. Also I use the red lift too, but after I changed the tripple trees on my bike it was lower and hard to get the jack under the bike. Not like stock at all. I did the under $20.00 wooden bike jack and put the bike up on that before I use the red lift. Works great both going up and comming down. I move it away after the bike is on the lift and put it under the bike before I let the lift down. No worries.

thanks for all the info. I just bought the sears yellow jack a couple days ago. Thought about going with the red but the yellow is much nicer. Ordered the leveling blocks. Should have them next week. This is going to make cleaning the chrome much easier on my back!!
